Our Aviemore Hotel overlooks Loch Alvie
History of our Aviemore hotel
The hotel - originally called The Lynwilg Mail and one of the oldest Inns in the Spey valley - was built in the 1700’s as a coaching inn alongside the Great North Road.
Extended in the mid-1800’s, it rapidly established an excellent reputation and received honourable mentions in a number of diaries and accounts of the time.
In its time, a part of the hotel has served as the village store, the post office and the local pub!!
Renamed The Rowan Tree in the early 90’s, the hotel has been tastefully modernised & upgraded but always with an eye to retaining it’s essential character & features – timber beams, open fires & the stained glass leaded window at the head of the splendid staircase.
An oasis of comfort in a time-pressured world. In an area of outstanding natural beauty. In a delightful rural location overlooking Loch Alvie, only a very short walk away. 2 miles south of Aviemore, in the heart of the recently designated and scenically stunning Cairngorms National Park, with, naturally, the back drop of the glorious Cairngorm mountains..
A veritable country retreat. Perfect seclusion, and your own personal space while you share some quality time with us. Quite special, and adored and greatly appreciated by all our visitors.
There is no mistaking that you are in the heart of the glorious Scottish Highlands yet you could be excused for thinking that you were in your own little private country home for a while.
No standardization here. You are a valued guest, not a number, and the delightful charm and rustic ambience will strike you as soon as you enter.
