Where to go Wednesdays...... Near the Torr Alvie o Where to go Wednesdays...... Near the Torr Alvie on the lower Kinrara estate is the Duchess of Gordon Monument. Lady Jane Gordon (nee Maxwell) lived at Kinrara house, when her husband Alexander the 4th Duke of Gordon had a mistress in his main castle in Morayshire. Both Kinrara house and the Duchess of Gordon Monument are next to the River Spey, giving great views across the area. The Duke of Gordon monument is for Jane's son George Gordon, the 5th Duke of Gordon, he was a British Army officer. Also very close to the Duke of Gordon monument on Torr Alvie is the Waterloo Cairn, which honours local Scottish Soldier (particularly the Gordon Highlanders and Royal Highlanders) who fell fighting under hte Duke of Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
